The Ford EcoSport is a small SUV that is around the same size and price as the Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 and Seat Arona. It’s been on sale since 2014 and has always been a somewhat niche choice, especially since Ford launched the Puma SUV, which is a similar price and offers much better value for money.

It’s actually fairly tough to recommend the Ford EcoSport - unless you're simply after an affordable model that offers a high driving position. If you’re after a newer model and have a reasonable budget, then Ford’s own Puma is better in pretty much every way - it’s cheaper to run, better to drive, more practical and has more in-car technology.

If you’re looking at a slightly older version of the EcoSport it’s a poor model that felt dated even when it was new, and rivals such as the models mentioned above are more comfortable, cheaper to run and have more interesting and spacious interiors.

There are some decent aspects of the EcoSport, though. It’s available with Ford’s fun-to-use and punchy 'EcoBoost' 1.0-litre petrol engines, and later versions have a decent amount of technology including smartphone connectivity.

We’ll focus on more recent 2017-on models here because that’s what’s mostly available on BuyaCar - and they’re much more desirable and better to drive than early cars (from 2014 to 2017).

Read on for all the top Ford EcoSport deals and offers, plus what comes with each model to help you pick the best one for you.

Ford EcoSport Zetec deals

The entry-level Ford EcoSport Zetec is not available anymore as a brand-new car, but there are still some models available second-hand on BuyaCar at affordable prices - the average price for a Zetec model is £15,171.

You can have the EcoSport in manual or automatic form, and there are two key engines to be aware of. The 1.5-litre diesel model is a bit rarer, but it offers decent fuel economy on long trips, while the much more common 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol is our pick. It’s punchy and fun to use, plus it comes in various forms - there are 125hp and 140hp models. Both are good, though the lower-powered model is often better value for money.

Zetec trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, electric heated door mirrors, fog lights, a heated windscreen and remote central locking. Inside, there’s a 6.5-inch touchscreen media system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB ports, two 12V sockets and voice controls. The seats are trimmed in cloth and only the front windows are electric.

Ford EcoSport Titanium deals

The Ford EcoSport Titanium is the entry-level model if you’re buying a brand-new model, and it costs from about £22,000 if you head to a dealer. You can get it much cheaper than that by choosing a used or nearly new one from BuyaCar, though.

In new form, it’s only available with the 125hp 1.0-litre petrol engine and with a manual gearbox, but some older models are available in different configurations as Ford has trimmed down its range in recent years.

This trim level comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, fog lights, a heated windscreen, powered windows all around and remote central locking. Inside, there’s an eight-inch touchscreen media system with sat-nav, smartphone connectivity, USB sockets and online services.

There’s cruise control, climate control, faux-leather trim, ambient lighting, a leather steering wheel and a reversing camera supported by parking sensors as well. In terms of safety kit, the Titanium model comes with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), an intelligent speed limiter, traffic sign recognition, hill-start assist and tyre pressure monitoring.

Ford EcoSport ST-Line deals

Ford Ecosport

The Ford EcoSport ST-Line is a higher-spec sporty-looking model that comes with extra equipment at a higher price. It’s about £23,000 when buying brand new but you can get a second-hand one much cheaper than that on BuyaCar.

This model comes with everything you get on the Titanium model above, plus red stitching for the faux-leather upholstery and ST-Line branded floor mats. It also comes with some other equipment designed to make the car look and feel more sporty - although it’s all cosmetic as the EcoSport is pretty much as far from sporty as cars get.

ST-Line comes with dark-coloured 17-inch alloy wheels, a spoiler on the hatchback, sports suspension, a black grille and a body kit that includes different headlight surrounds, bumpers and side skirts. ST-Line is available with the most powerful 140hp petrol engine, as it’s the sportiest model in the range.

Ford EcoSport Active deals

The Ford EcoSport Active builds on the SUV styling by adding equipment that makes the car look more rugged. When new, it costs from around £23,000 but you will be able to find better used deals on BuyaCar.

The EcoSport Active trim level gets everything that comes on the Titanium trim above plus 17-inch alloys with a different design, tinted windows, a special white paint colour and upgraded floor mats. It also comes with a black roof to contrast the white paint, plus black trim pieces to match and different tail lights as well.

There’s also blue stitching inside and black plastic wheel arches to make it look more like an off-roader (but it’s only available with two-wheel-drive form and with the 125hp petrol engine).

Look out for models with Ford’s X-Pack added on, which adds a B&O sound system, keyless entry and tinted windows to any model in the range.
