If you find the process of finding a parking space and manoeuvring your car into it to be one of the more stressful parts of your day, we can imagine getting a car with parking sensors is pretty high on your agenda. It's a technology that's fitted to many cars nowadays, and one that can really take the edge off that trip into town.

No matter how proficient you are at parking, squeezing into a tight space on a busy road is made much easier with the reassuring beep of ultrasonic parking sensors telling you how close you are to hitting that brick wall, but you don't have to go splashing the cash to find a car that has them equipped, used cars with parking sensors start from £4,125 on BuyaCar.

Due to the popularity of these parking aids, a growing list of manufacturers including Renault, Vauxhall and Skoda offer park assist technology as standard across their respective model ranges - even in their most basic entry-level models.

So if you've had enough of struggling to park your car, we've got the perfect list of great value used cars for you. Read on for more details on the best used cars with parking sensors, and once you've picked out your ideal choice we'll deliver it to your door for you.

Used cars with parking sensors

What are parking sensors?

Parking sensors are fitted to the outside edges of your car, most commonly the rear bumper, and can sense whenever an obstacle or hazard comes within close proximity. They essentially act as an eye in the back of your car. That's not to say the cars we've picked out are clever enough to park for you, but they do all at least help to make the job easier.

Typically, audio warnings come via a beep that gets gradually more manic the closer to an object you get. Some cars equipped with reversing cameras will also give you visual warnings on your vehicle’s central media display.

When shopping for used cars there is always the possibility that the previous owner will have installed an aftermarket parking assistance system. These can be as simple as stick-on sensors which require no real effort to install, or more complicated systems, which require modification to your bumper.

While there is nothing wrong with using an aftermarket system, you never know how competently it has been installed, whereas manufacturer supplied systems come with a certain level of reassurance. So we have only chosen options on this list that come with the real deal.

Cars with parking sensors

1. Ford Fiesta

Best everyday car

Used deals from £6,000
Monthly finance from £0*

The latest version of the Ford Fiesta went on sale in 2017, and while you can find older and cheaper versions of Ford’s popular small car with parking sensors equipped, this fresher and more up to date Fiesta features a much more modern interior with technology to match.

Rear parking sensors are available as standard equipment on ‘Edition’ spec models (aside from the most basic Trend trim), which have been sold since 2019, as well as Fiesta ST and Active versions.

Titanium and ST-Line models are also sold with parking sensors as an optional extra, so it’s possible to find used versions with the tech included, although it’s always good to be certain the exact car you’re looking at had the box ticked when it was built.

2. Citroen C4 Cactus

Best family car for cities

Used deals Limited stock

The Citroen C4 Cactus was quirky when it first launched in 2014. The huge air bumps on the doors were a talking point, as well as a bit of extra protection from door prangs.

While the styling has been dumbed down a little after an update in 2018, the C4 Cactus remains a funky and distinctive crossover with a raised driving position and comfortable interior.

It’s also ready to protect you from any rear-end accidents, too, with rear parking sensors included as standard on all models since 2018. Top of the range Flair models also include a reversing camera, so you can see exactly what the sensors are trying to alert you to.

3. Hyundai i30

Best practical hatchback

Used deals from £7,790
Monthly finance from £0*

Hyundai is slowly starting to break into the mainstream with its recent range of models, and the i30 hatchback is part of that growth in popularity. While it’s not yet able to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf or Vauxhall Astra in terms of out and out sales, the i30 does go toe to toe when it comes to quality and equipment.

Considering the Hyundai i30 is available for far less than a similar-age Golf on BuyaCar, the level of equipment on board is enough to match its esteemed German rival.

All models excluding the most basic S trim include rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, which ought to make reversing into a space an absolute walk in the park.

No ForFour models are guaranteed to feature them, but Prime and Passion models were available with parking sensors as an optional extra, so pay attention to the spec sheet of the model you’re looking at to ensure parking sensors are there.
